George Sellios
This is our kit No. 160. the Stone Roundhouse, as built by George Sellios on his layout, The Franklin and South Manchester Railroad. The intent was to do a tribute to the John Allen Roundhouse on the G&D. George built a seven stall version. He also personalized it with a traveling crane and many of his own special detail castings. When the kit version came out, we added our own traveling crane and some details inspired by John Allen's Roundhouse.

Some of the back story...

This structure was orginally just a project between George and SRMW. We did the design work, the master patterns and then provided the parts needed for George to add his own special weathering. During the process, George also insisted that it was a viable kit. While very flattering, we were skeptical - not to mention the prodiuction requirements were somewhat daunting Eventually, giving into pressure, we made 150, hoping we would not be stuck with this 19 lb monster of a kit. Well. it sold out in a week and we had to do a re-run (the only time we have ever done this) to meet the demand. Live and learn...

Unfortunately, we believe there are no magazine photos published of this building -even though the photographers hired by Kalmbach took many. Working with George, we both thought this centerpiece of the yard would be featrured in one of the yearly December issue specials MRR mag was running. For reasons unknown to us (and despite many letters from customers of mine & George), the magazine treats this building (as they do many of my products) as though they do not exist. To this day we are baffled as to why SRMW seems to be somewhat "blacklisted" by Kalmbach.
