For the Blackstone Paper Mill I stepped outside of New England. The prototype is based on a mill I found while exploring the Light Rail Corridor in Northern Baltimore, Maryland. The Blackstone name is the first time I point to that famous area of our Industrial heritage, the Blackstone River Corridor in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The scene has many elements in addition to the Mill. The setting, which is a canal in an urban area, also has Jack’s Bar, based on a storefront in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. A similar building in Ware, Massachusetts, inspires the mill’s powerhouse.
